Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program

The State of Florida offers The Bright Futures Scholarship to students who fulfill the requirements set forth by the Florida Department of Education.

There are three award levels:

  • Florida Academic Scholars (FAS)
  • Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)
  • Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV) - For students with a minimum of three Career and Technical Education credits in one vocational program

Each award level has its own test score, academic, community service requirements, award amounts and funding length. Student may receive funding for only one award; the highest award earned will be selected. In addition to meeting academic requirements, students must also meet the general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid.

Application Dates & Requirements:

  1. Students must apply during their last year in high school (after December 1 and prior to graduation) or forfeit all future eligibility for a Bright Futures Scholarship. Apply Here
  2. Within 30 days of applying, you must send in the “Vitarete Academy Bright Futures Notification Form” along with the 1st half year report card so we can enter the information online with the FDOE. The sooner we enter the information, the sooner your student will receive notification from the FDOE of their status concerning the scholarship.

Bright Futures Scholarship Information

Mathematics Requirements for FAS and FMS:

  1. Consumer Math, Business Math, Math for College Success, Applied Math III, Informal Geometry, Explorations in Math I, Explorations in Math II, Pre-Algebra and High School Liberal Arts Math CANNOT be used as one of the four BF required math credits.
  2. The TWO COURSE SEQUENCES Algebra IA and Algebra IB or Applied Math I and Applied Math II count as ONE of the four BF required math credits.
